Hua Hin (Huahin) is a tourist city and famous beach resort in Thailand, located 281 kilometers south of Bangkok having a population of 41,953 (year 2000 Census) with geographical location 12° 34′N 99° 58′E, and is a district of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Hua Hin is the oldest beach resort of Thailand. In 1921, the director of the state railway of Thailand, Prince Purachatra, built the Railway Hotel close to the beach. King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) liked the place so much he built a summer palace there. Currently, this beach resort has many high-class hotels with the boom of Thailand's tourism boom.

You can find all types of accommodation either in Hua Hin or in nearby Cha-Am. Air conditioned budget accommodation starts from about THB 800 and there are comfortable boutique resorts from about THB 1,600. Quality hotels may cost around THB 2,800 and up. Beach hotels and resorts are located in the main beach area of Hua Hin and the Northern Beach. Khao Takiab Beach and Khao Takiab Bay are located in the south. Hotels become highly occupied over weekends and advanced booking is suggested for any weekend stays year round. Budget hotels and guesthouses can be found in the centre of town near the fishing piers and also close to the southern beach and also in the Khao Takiab area.
Getting to Hua Hin
From Bangkok Airport, taxis or Limousine Cars are available Both are available 24/7 from Booking Offices inside the Arrivals area. Taxis and Limos also available from central Bangkok. Travelling time is approximately 2 1/2 Hours, depending on traffic situation....

Hua Hin Beaches
The name Hua Hin - 'rocky head' in Thai - is derived from the rocks that can be seen on the beach in front of the Sofitel Central Hotel. It has a 5-kilometer beach lined with a variety of private beach houses and 5 star resorts. The beach stretches some 7 kilometres from the hill in the south called Khao Takiap, where the famous temple Wat Khao Takiap is located.
